About the author
Harry P.M. Clerx (1942) is a Dutch mechanical engineer who started his career at NV Philips in Eindhoven and then worked, among others, at Océ Copiers within the Departments R&D and Service.
After being Head Design Centre at a machine factory, he started working for CCM (Centre for Concepts in Mechatronics). There he worked as an inventor, designer, head of construction, and project manager of mechatronics projects with a distinct innovative character such as automation of the handling and editing of natural products. This often involves camera systems with automatic image processing techniques.
He also published multiple articles in Dutch periodic journals such as “De Constructeur”, “Bulk”, “Polytechnisch Tijdschrift”, “De Ingenieur” and “Transport en Opslag”.
CCM is an independent technical research and developing centre where new products, constructions, systems and processes are being invented and developed. Its principals are, for instance, companies such as ASML, Océ Copiers, VDT Automotive Transmissions, AKZO-Nobel, Philips, as well as companies involved with agriculture and space travel (among others Fokker, ESA).
CCM was founded in 1969 by the legendary professor Dr. Alexandre Horowitz (1904-1982), who was, for instance, known for his invention of the Philips “Philishave” razor. Today CCM has approximately 110 employees of who most attended a technical education at university level.
The name Horowitz lives on in the Professor Alexandre Horowitz Foundation of which this author has been a member of the board since 1987, until his retirement in 2002.
In 1999 Mr. Clerx founded CTS Conveyor belt Tracking Systems, in which he advised companies during many years in the area of belt tracking.
In 2014 he started to support Guide2track S.à r.l., as Lead Design Engineer. From this moment, he mainly focussed on the development of the Centrack precision belt tracking system. Guide2track has been founded by his son Frank Clerx in 2014.
